Prepaid Phone Calling Costs
US call charges are different to those in most of the rest of the world. A couple of things to remember:

1. You pay to make and receive calls on mobiles in the US. If it's an international call you pay local call rates to receive the call, or international call rates to make a call.
2. Call anywhere in the USA from anywhere in the USA for the same great rates including Alaska and Hawaii
3. Call credit expires after 30-365 days depending on the denomination of credit purchased, see chart below
4. Text messages (SMS) to the US and Canada, instant messages and email cost 10c to send and 5c to receive
5. International text messages cost 35c to send and 5c to receive
6. Multimedia messages (MMS) cost 25c to send and 25c to receive
7. Calls are charged in one minute increments, any fraction of a minute is rounded up to a full minute
8. Roaming charges for using the service in Canada and Mexico vary, see chart below
9. International calls from your mobile are charged in addition to domestic US airtime, as per rates outlined on the chart below
10. You are charged the regular airtime charges for voicemail retrieval
11. You are charged the local US per-minute charge to receive an international call
12. You reach Gold Rewards status when you have purchased over $100 in call credit for your US mobile phone, in addition to call credit included at the time of activation.
13. Gold Rewards customers get at least 15% more talk time free and your account validity is extended to one year
14. 411 and directory assistance calls cost $1.49 per minute
